Welcome to the Fox Creek Inn, a romantic Vermont country Inn, minutes to Killington

Nestled in a private valley on seven acres and surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest, Fox Creek Inn is the perfect getaway to experience a Vermont country inn. Our location feels remote, and certainly does assure peace and tranquility, but we are delightfully close to many local attractions and outside activities. We are located between Killington/Pico mountains and downtown Rutland. Additionally, Woodstock, Quechee Gorge, Middlebury and Manchester are all just a gentle 45 minute drive away.

What happened to our spring-like weather?

Winter storm Quinn (who else thinks it's nutty that they now name winter storms?) has started to move in today (March 7th).  We're expecting to get 12 inches of the lovely white fluffy stuff.  Heavy and wet.....GREAT for making snowmen and having snowball fights.  Susan will be out in the tractor keeping the driveway and parking areas clear for you.  Some of the guests last weekend decided that shoveling snow off the walks was a good way to get some exercise....thanks Paul and Donna!  They also hiked up the trail at Lefferts Pond to see the fish ladder.....an idea they had never heard of before.  Donna (an avid animal lover) was hoping to see the otters that live there.

If you'd rather do the normal winter sports like cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, it's as close as 2.5 miles away at Mountain Top Inn and Resort.  They rent the equipment at their activity center.  Ask Susan about 1/2 day passes to go there.

Nearly a full house last weekend.  Some of the guests took advantage and went to the Farmers Market (Sat. indoors in the winter) in Rutland and really enjoyed it.  Listened to some music, sampled some of ethnic foods and bought the requisite maple syrup.

MAPLE SYRUP....it's that time of year.  The sap is running!  So if you drive by places that look like they are on fire because of all the smoke/steam coming out of them, you'll know you've just passed a sugar house and they are boiling.  Guests have enjoyed locally produced syrup on their blueberry pancakes or French toast at breakfast.

If you just want to get away where there are no TV's and sit by the fireplace and read a book or visit with the other guests, Fox Creek Inn is the place for you.  We have a great selection of wines and beer for sale.  Cookies and hot coffee are always ready.

With only eight rooms we can ensure highly personalized attention for all of our guests. Our breakfasts are prepared with the freshest local ingredients and are designed to suit all tastes and dietary needs.

While the Inn and our amenities might make you want to just kick back and relax, we are perfectly located for year round outside activities. In the spring and summer we are a center for activities such as hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking and fishing. Vermont's spectacular fall foliage may be seen from a canoe on the lake or from a gondola ride to the top of Killington, where you can see the breathtaking canopy from above.

Our winters are crisp and cold, typically with good powdery snow. We are less than two miles from world class cross country skiing and snowshoeing, so you can be on a trail within minutes of the inn and downhill skiing at Killington is less than 15 minutes away.

Fox Creek Inn is comfortable and welcoming on the inside and exhilarating on the outside. Come and explore or sit and relax, either way you are sure to enjoy Vermont at its very best.
